White House Press Briefings to Be Delivered Exclusively via App, Reporters Must Subscribe to Ask Questions
The new press secretary will keep her old job, and the briefing room is simply relocating to where she already works.
Incoming press secretary Katie Zacharia will not be leaving her post as a communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group, officials confirmed, because the briefing room is moving to her instead.
Starting next month, all White House statements, clarifications, and non-denials will be posted directly to the company's platform, with the press pool required to create accounts and follow the official feed before submitting questions in the comments section.
"We came together as one administration, cross-posted," said a spokesperson, before excusing themselves to approve their own reply.
Reporters who are not already subscribers will reportedly be placed in a queue behind verified commenters, a change staff described as "streamlining" and several journalists described as "the thing we used to call access."
The briefing room itself will remain in the West Wing, officials said, though its primary function going forward will be hosting a monitor that displays the feed.
